Elite Dangerous: Horizons Available Now
Elite Dangerous: Horizons is the new season of major gameplay expansions for our award-winning space epic Elite Dangerous - it kicked off today with Planetary Landings on 1:1 scale worlds throughout the Milky Way, and will introduce further major gameplay features as the season continues into 2016, enriching the Elite Dangerous experience with new activities and new ways to play.
We also launched Elite Dangerous 1.5: Ships – a free update for all Elite Dangerous players on PC, Mac and Xbox One – adding over 300 improvements including new spacecraft, new missions and SteamVR support.
About Elite Dangerous: Horizons
In the first of Elite Dangerous: Horizons’ expansions, Planetary Landings, players can journey seamlessly from space to surface and choose their own landing point on accurately simulated planets and moons throughout Elite Dangerous’ full-scale Milky Way galaxy.
Players coast over mountain tops, dive into canyons and take command of the new ‘SRV’ ground vehicles. Each of these 1:1 scale worlds offers incredible vistas and countless gameplay opportunities as players discover valuable resources, experience deadly combat encounters, raid bases, scout crash sites, and cooperate with other players on the planet surface and flying high above. Planetary Landings is an entirely new way to play Elite Dangerous, and is just the first part of the Horizons season of expansions.
Elite Dangerous: Horizons continues into 2016 with further expansions dedicated to gameplay, community, and narrative, including:
- Loot and Crafting, unlocking a world of customization options and adding new value and meaning to every action.
- Multicrew, allowing teams of players to assume roles aboard the same ship.
- Commander Creation, giving a unique appearance to players’ in-game avatars.
- Ship-Launched Fighters, allowing larger spacecraft to carry their own short-range fighter craft for attack and defense.
Elite Dangerous and Elite Dangerous: Horizons are fully back and forward compatible with each other. All players will retain their in-game progress and continue to fly together in the same galaxy as one community, and all Elite Dangerous players will continue to receive free updates, fixes and optimizations.
Elite Dangerous: Horizons is available now on FrontierStore.net and Steam for £39.99 (€49.99, $59.99), with full access to every Elite Dangerous: Horizons expansion for just one price.
Existing Elite Dangerous players who purchase Elite Dangerous: Horizons on FrontierStore.net or Steam currently receive a £10 (€14, $15) loyalty discount off the retail price, plus will unlock the exclusive ‘Cobra Mk IV’ spacecraft in Elite Dangerous: Horizons, bringing the number of playable ships to 31.
